Our Commitment to Sustainability: ISCC Certification and Supply Chain Integrity

What is ISCC Certification and Why is it Important?

Blue Ridge Biofuels is proud to be certified by the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) system. ISCC is a globally recognized, multi-stakeholder certification scheme that ensures compliance with high ecological and social sustainability requirements, greenhouse gas emission savings, and traceability throughout the supply chain.

For Blue Ridge Biofuels, ISCC certification is not just a label; it is a commitment to the environment, our customers, and our community.

    Key Benefits of ISCC Certification:

    • Environmental Responsibility: ISCC compliance guarantees that our biofuels are produced from sustainable feedstocks that do not contribute to deforestation, habitat destruction, or loss of biodiversity. It verifies that we meet strict criteria for responsible land use.
    • Greenhouse Gas Reduction: The certification verifies the significant reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions achieved by using our biofuel compared to fossil fuels, ensuring we meet regulatory requirements for carbon savings.
    • Traceability and Transparency: ISCC provides a robust chain-of-custody system, allowing us to trace our feedstock from its origin to the final biofuel product. This transparency ensures that every batch meets the required sustainability criteria.
    • Regulatory Compliance: Being ISCC certified demonstrates compliance with the sustainability criteria of various national and international regulations, including the European Union's Renewable Energy Directive (RED II).

Ensuring Supply Chain Integrity: The Role of Self-Declaration Statements

To maintain the integrity of our ISCC certification and guarantee the sustainability of our final product, Blue Ridge Biofuels requires all feedstock suppliers to provide a Self-Declaration Statement.

    Why We Require Self-Declaration Statements:

The Self-Declaration Statement serves as a critical first step in verifying the compliance of the feedstock before it enters our processing facility. This requirement helps us:

    • Establish Baseline Compliance: Suppliers formally attest that their material meets fundamental sustainability criteria, such as not originating from controversial sources (e.g., protected lands, areas converted from forests).
    • Due Diligence: It forms a necessary part of our due diligence process, ensuring that our supply chain is free from unsustainable or unethical practices.
    • Traceability for ISCC Audit: These statements are essential documentation for our annual ISCC audit, proving that we have procedures in place to monitor the sustainability claims of our raw material providers.

The Self-Declaration is a formal commitment by the supplier that their feedstock is sustainable and eligible for use in ISCC-certified biofuel production.
